Into the Wild

With Into the Wild, director Sean Penn adapted the true story of Chris McCandless, based on the bestseller by Jon Krakauer. It is the story of a young man who leaves his familiar life behind and sets out in search of freedom, adventure, and above all, himself. After finishing his studies, Chris donates all his savings to charity, cuts off contact with his family, and travels across the United States under the name Alexander Supertramp. During his two-year journey, he meets a variety of people, each of whom influences him in their own way. From an elderly hippie couple to a lonely widower and a lovestruck teenage girl: every encounter brings him closer to himself.
