Mi Vida

Mi vida is a warm and moving film about starting over, chasing dreams, and finding the courage to live your own life. Lou (Loes Luca), a 63-year-old hairdresser from Schiedam, sets off for Cádiz in southern Spain. She has sold her hairdressing salon and wants to learn Spanish, but above all she is searching for a new direction in her life. In Cádiz, she ends up with a lively Spanish family and begins a language course. There she meets Andrea, her fiery teacher, with whom she slowly builds a special friendship despite their differences. That friendship gives Lou the confidence to think about what she still wants for herself. But when her pregnant daughter unexpectedly comes to Cádiz, she is once again confronted with her past. Was she the mother she wanted to be? And how much of her life has she actually shaped according to the expectations of others? Director Norbert ter Hall has made an honest and relatable story with Mi vida about the question of whether it is ever too late to take a different path. Loes Luca is wonderful as Lou: vulnerable, stubborn, uncertain and above all very human. Elvira Mínguez also shines as the fiery Andrea.
